"The Crystal Beads: Lalka's Journey" by Pat Black Gould Wins Prestigious Royal Palm Literary Award
Purple Butterfly Press celebrated yet another landmark moment this week as the Florida Writers Association (FWA) announced the winners of the 2023 Royal Palm Literary Awards. Among the celebrated recipients was "The Crystal Beads: Lalka's Journey" by renowned author Pat Black Gould. This marks the third award this book has won, including the Moonbeam Children's Book Award - Gold Medal Winner and Northern Lights Book Award - Winner of the Picture Book All Ages Category.
This beautifully illustrated Gold Medal award-winning book is inspired by a true story and told from a child's perspective. The story is one of sacrifice and bravery and highlights the hidden children of the Holocaust. Readers will witness how people can come together, despite differences, when it really matters.
Although a children's book, The Crystal Beads, Lalka's Journey, is designed for ages 7 to adults. It contains two study guides. One is for children, parents, and teachers. Royal Palm Literary Awards (RPLA) is a prestigious writing competition that recognizes extraordinary writing in 20+ genre categories for adults and 5 for youth and provides objective and constructive written assessments to all entrants.
